Our Curriculum

1-2 year olds

Leaning heavily on the ideas from Daniel Siegel and Tina Bryson in their book "The Whole-Brain Child", we put an emphasis on teaching children how to regulate and understand all the emotions they experience from day to day. We want them to learn how to play with others, express emotions in a healthy and effective way, and show understanding for how their peers are feeling. We frequently ask questions such as “How do you think they are feeling?” “How do you feel right now?” and “What would you do if…?” to support their awareness of self and others. We believe it is important for them to learn these skills when they are young so they can be productive members of a classroom and family. 1 and 2 year olds also get casual practice with numbers, letters, shapes and colors.

3 year olds

3 year olds get a mix of school education and emotional education. We continue to work with them on developing their emotional intelligence while we teach them about  numbers, letters, shapes and colors in a formal setting. 3 year olds get two hours a day to do activities (yoga, craft, exercise, music) with the 4 year olds and one hour a day to receive small group instruction on letters and numbers. All learning activities are play-based and hands-on to increase engagement and memory.

3 and 4 year olds follow the pre-k and kindergarten UEN Core Standards.

4 year olds

When teaching the 4 year olds, we focus on kindergarten readiness. We teach them how to sit in a chair, work both independently and in a group, and think critically to solve problems. Similar to the 1-3 year olds, we also focus on emotional intelligence. We aim to teach and demonstrate healthy ways to solve personal problems and problems with peers. 4 year olds get two hours a day to do activities (yoga, craft, exercise, music) with the 3 year olds and two and a half hours a day to do formal preschooling. All learning activities are play-based and hands-on to increase engagement and memory.

3 and 4 year olds follow the pre-k and kindergarten UEN Core Standards.
